Education at Advent

Advent hosts a wide range of opportunities for people of all ages to grow in faith.

Adult education

During the school year, weekly Bible studies are held on Thursday mornings at ten and some Sunday mornings after worship. Bible studies are led by the pastor or a member of the congregation.

Pastor Joseph leads studies on topical themes during the year as well. Our study for Advent 2018 is on Walter Brueggemann’s The Prophetic Imagination. Previous topics have included Rowan Willaims, (Fall 2018), liturgy (Lent 2018), the history of Christology(Advent 2017), the Lutheran Reformation (Fall 2017), and the Beatitudes (Lent 2017).

Vacation Bible school

During the school year, Sunday school is offered during worship on Sundays. We also offer activities for kids in the summer to explore the biblical stories and learn about their faith.

Confirmation is a two-year process during which middle school students learn about the Lutheran tradition, the Bible, and the church's mission in the world. We celebrate our confirmands on Pentecost with Affirmation of Baptism.
